Event size

I am having a small wedding or event.

Vision

I am looking for a few simple bouquets, boutonnieres or table arrangements and am not picky about colours.

I love the look of wildflowers.

Help?

I have a lot of family and friends who I know would love to take this project on, as I may not have the time.

I trust them to do a great job.

Values

Having local and ecologically grown flowers is more important to me than having a specific theme.

DIY flowers could be right for me...

Event size

I am having a large wedding or event and will likely have many things on my plate the day before and day of the event.

Vision

I love big, complex bouquets.

I am drawn to large floral arrangements, such as arbors.

I know exactly what colour theme I want.

Help?

I've never really loved to do crafts.

I'm not sure that any family or friends will be excited take this on if I am too busy.

Values

I care about local, but I think what is more important to me is that my wedding or event looks a certain way.

Maybe I should hire a professional...

These our images of our DIY wedding.

When we got hitched in 2017, we had a small budget so we decided to go DIY.

This was before we grew flowers commercially, so we utilized what was available from our small garden, and a few choice blooms gifted to us by a local florist (Barefoot Blooms). We put two of our crafty friends in charge of gathering and arranging blooms so we could do other things.

The flowers were a fun addition to our small back yard celebration. They were eclectic and far from "perfect", but exactly what fit our needs.

We had the luxury of a big garden to help us achieve our vision. We know there are many folks out there just like us who would love to do this, but don't have access to blooms or land to make it happen.

If you read this and think 'YES!' then DIY flowers may be a good choice for you.

Please read on for full details.

Nitty Gritty

The Nitty Gritty

What comes in a bucket?

Each bucket contains between 50-80 stems, based on what you are looking for. This can be enough material to make 2-5 bouquets, depending on the size you want.

Buckets include a mixture of foliage and seasonal blooms. We do not use wildflowers in our buckets, but many of our flowers resemble wildflowers in appearance - meaning they are unique, textural and colourful! If you would like a particular colour theme and/or specific blooms, we will do our best to accommodate, however this may affect price.

We will select foliage and flowers that we know will hold up for shorter periods of time out of water (i.e. during ceremony and pictures). However, we do not use any conditioning agents or chemicals on our flowers to help them last out of water for long periods of time. Our blooms will not hold up for many hours out of water (i.e. in arbors)

Our DIY buckets are composed of what is growing and in season on our farm at the time of the event. Crop failures can (and do) happen, and therefore we cannot guarantee we will be able to supply specific types or colours of flowers at the time of the event.  We will do our best, but if you absolutely need a certain colour or flower, it is probably best for you to contact a florist (we can recommend some great ones!) who have access to worldwide ordering of specific blooms!

How much does a bucket cost?

Buckets are 85$ from June-October and 130$ from April-May, plus taxes. Early spring flowers such as tulips, ranunculus and anemones are much more costly for us to produce, and this is reflected in the increased price in the spring. Our buckets are 12 inches in diameter (the standard black buckets you see in commercial grocery store flower displays).

Depending on what is available, what you want, and the quantities needed, the price per bucket can be negotiated. Let us know if your budget is small - we are happy to discuss options!

How do I get a bucket (or more!)?

Buckets are available for pickup from our farm in Centre Burlington (1 hour outside of Halifax) Tuesday afternoon-Friday evening, or we deliver to HRM on Tuesday/Thursday evening.

To order buckets, you can email, call, or send us a message on Instagram or Facebook.

Please note, a 50% deposit is required on all orders. For events held in June-October, this deposit is refundable up to two weeks before the event. For April-May events, the deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations within two weeks of the event will not be refunded.
